If they are Factory Tires, they are made by IRC.Most of us are getting between 4000 - 6500 miles on a set.If it were me, I would inspect the Tred and Sidewall for Weather Cracks and dry rot very well before I would do any Serious riding. I had to replace both of my tires at 4400 miles on my '01 because of cracking across the Tred as well as Sidewalls.
Any good tire of a reputable make will work well because the Savage is such a light Bike, although I would stay away from the Blue light special Brands, you just can't take such a chance when you only have two Tires between you and the Cement.
I replaced my IRC Tires with Metzler ME880 Marathons, over-kill on this bike, but the traction gain is worth it to me, and I hope to get 8-10000 miles from them if possible.
The Downside to the Tire question about the Savage is the Oddball size of the rear tire. Not every Manufacture makes a tire of that size, and sometimes you have to find the rear tire size first, and then a front tire to match it. In my opinion,I would want a front and rear tire of the same Manufacture and Tred type, and not risk Two different type tires with different traction characteristics on the same Bike.
If your IRC Tires or not worn or cracked than you'll be OK,They are good tires.Rember to keep them properly inflated...very important!
